David Pughe Evans - Lead Kindly Light

First published in 1894, this was a a song highly regarded by the composer and song-writer Idris Lewis who called it the best religious song ever written by someone from Wales. Evans sets the words of Cardinal Newman, translated into Welsh by Elfed. David Pughe-Evans, in his tragically short life (1866-97), also composed Yr Hen Gerddor and several other popular songs.
