Composer's note:

"This work began as hommage to Vivaldi's 'Spring', the first of his Four Seasons, attempting to evoke his exhilarating celebration of the end of winter and Nature's rebirth. It opens with a refrain that recurs three times and features first, a solo violin, then a cello and then a double bass before returning to the violin and ends with a coda built on the same material. Interspersed between these refrains is a gentle melody first heard on solo harpsichord. It builds in the orchestra through each of its appearances, culminating majestically and decisively, before some poignant reflection by the harpsichord. The coda ends the work joyfully."
